Framed

Image
Installation by Stuart Haygarth using frame molding on a staircase at the Victoria & Albert Museum for the last London Design Festival in September.   Wouldn't it be wonderful to use a scaled down version in your home? Maybe just one or two layers on the outsides of the stairs, since you probably actually need them to be as functional as possible. But you could really make your stairs "pop" with an idea like this!

Yucca Lounge

Image
A tiny cocktail lounge, Yucca , has opened on the third floor of Mansion 26F in Sinan Mansions, Shanghai. The building is the headquarters of Yucca’s creator, Australian-Greek chef and restaurateur David Laris , and it also houses three of his other restaurants: Funky Chicken, Fat Olive and 12 Chairs. Yucca’s interior design is by Shanghai-based Lime 388 , a design and communications agency founded by the Paris-educated Thomas Dariel and Benoit Arfeuillere. Yucca’s crazy, modern Mexican feel conjures up thoughts of Salvador Dali, Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. There are the religious undertones, tall candelabra, catholic crosses, elaborate floor mosaics. There are shocking colors, paisley arm chairs, iron gates and a big slab of marble as the main bar. It all looks a bit much, even without patrons. And the multitude of rum and tequila cocktails will only heighten the somewhat mad vibe. Undoubtedly the creators’ intention. - Tuija Seipell

Julie Eilenberger

Image
Inspired by science fiction and old Hollywood movies, the young Danish designer Julie Eilenberger introduces her latest work. A knitted sweater, a crochet bathing suit and an oversize jacket, make up her gorgeous latest collection. Currently completing her thesis in Berlin, Julie has already shown in 3 Berlin Fashion Weeks and completed a collection for Adidas. While already receiving quite a bit of publicity and press, Julie looked for an identity that could help present herself and her work to the masses. As her collections grows, so will her identity to accompany all areas of her line, from labels to business cards and look-books.

Hair by Peter Gray

Image
One of the top hairstylist in the world, Peter Grey collaborated with former assistant Masa Honda to showcased the amazing hair editorial, photographed by Takahiro Ogawa as part of the Asia Beauty Expo . Aside from inviting 17 stylists, including Nicola Formichetti, Patti Wilson and Robbie Spencer , to customize a simple men’s jumpsuit, the show also featured the cream of recent Parsons and Central Saint Martins alumni, including Jackie Lee, Paula Cheng and Thomas Tait . The avant garde women’s and men’s fashion was there to compliment the sculptural and the couture-like; two elements that are key to Gray’s idea of show hair.
